This was my first time going to this well-known Nebraskan festival and let me just tell you…the weekend downpour definitely didn’t rain on my parade!

Local Supporting Local.

That was the mission and it has spread to more than over 200 local vendors.

It started with a dream and a passion by a small local business owner and turned into one of the best known junking festivals throughout the country to celebrate local artists and junkers.

An event like Junkstock is not only a great way to bond with family and friends, but to engage in the community. It was so amazing to see what local craftsmen can make out of things that some people consider “junk”. It shows that every piece of furniture, clothing, random item, or leftover scraps from something else has a second life and can be made into something unique and beautiful!

When you go to Junkstock there is a feeling of home. Everyone is welcome, everyone belongs, and come together as a community. That is the beauty of this amazing event.

When you are at Junkstock, make sure you grab some food at one of the many amazing local vendors! Each food vendor has something different and delicious to try!

Always remember to enjoy life and be yourself. <3

Also…shout out to the awesome guys / tow committee who got my car out of the mud! If it happens to be raining when you go, I highly suggest using the free shuttle from Metropolitan Community College’s Elkhorn Valley Campus to get to Sycamore Farms!
