"The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience." -Eleanor Roosevelt
Hey Beyourself beauties!
One of my favorite places that I visited in Europe was the Island of Santorini! If you don't happen to have this place on your must visit list then I highly suggest that you do! Nothing else compares to this magical place with its sandy beaches, dazzling blue ocean, and of course the bright white buildings. I had a blast exploring the island with memories that will last me a life time, but I have wrapped them up into a list of my top 5 favorite things I did whilst I was on the island for you guys!
#1 Exploring the city of Fira
It's impossible not to be amazed by the beautiful views of the ocean and picturesque buildings while walking through the streets of Fira. This place felt like a dream and I never wanted it to end!
With all of the white and blue buildings I made sure to wear an outfit that stood out! This red two piece and amazing embroidered bag did the trick!
While in Fira, make sure to grab a bite to eat at one of the local gyro stands! Trust me, they are AMAZING!
#2 Riding Donkeys in Oia
This was the one activity I was looking forward to the most and I was not about to leave Santorini without doing! Ever since saw Lena ride a donkey in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, I made a mental note that if I were to ever go to Santorini, Greece I would have to try this. Let me just tell you, it was the best time of my life!
#3 Going Riding on ATVs
There is no better way of exploring the island than on an ATV. I stayed in Perissa which is on the southern tip of the island - which I really enjoyed because it is right by the coast with the black sand beach - and a great starting point to explore the rest of the island. It was so exhilarating to get to ride around and explore at my own leisure. While exploring I stopped at a little shop in Akrotiri called Faros Market & Products that sold home made preservatives which were DELICIOUS! If you happen upon this little spot I encourage you to try the sweet tomato preserves! Santorini is known for their tomatoes because the volcanic ash enriches the flavor!
#4 Visiting the Local Book Store of Oia - Atlantis Books
While walking through the streets of Oia I happened upon this cute little book store. If it wasn't for the "rent a cat" sign that caught my attention and sparked my curiosity I would have missed this place. I am so glad I didn't because I fell in love with it! This place is a book lovers haven with the right amount of quirkiness and care free vibes that made me want to spend hours here. While there, I recommend picking up one of the carefully selected books in their repertoire and sit on the deck that has a marvelous view of the ocean.
#5 Walking through the streets of Oia and watching the sunset
Oia is the other big city in Santorini aside from Fira and it's just as pretty! It was so much fun just walking around and finding little nooks and side streets. This city made smile, and still does!
The sunset in Oia is an experience that cannot be missed if you are ever in Santorini. It's one of those moments in life that made me realize how amazing this world is. The sunset is about an hour long so find a good little spot and enjoy!
Thanks for reading, have a wonderful day, and always remember to be yourself!
